MAY 2003 PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT

We have a monthly product spotlight at Ram Precision that we like to share with our prospects and customers to illustrate the products that we deliver for our customers and what impact it has on their development process. We will vary our selections each month for different industries and applications to convey our breadth and depth of knowledge in the delivery of high-quality tooling, molds, and dies.

Ram Precision is pleased to highlight one of our latest shipments for our high tech electronics customers. Not only did we manufacture this part, we also designed the complete mold according to the exacting specifications given to us by our customer. Our design team collaborated with their engineers throughout the process to ensure a high-quality part that works the first time it is placed in production.

In any given machine, there could be 2 to 4 of these molds working in a synchronized fashion. The end product is a strip of tantalum capacitors which have a multitude of applications. This particular mold has a cycle time of less than 1 minute and drastically improves their previous process. The inner inserts are nickel-teflon plated, which is used to prevent the material from adhering to the mold. The outer portion is chrome-plated to increase the mold life. The mold is made of traditional tool steels optimized to deliver a top-quality part. This mold has also undergone very specific heat-treating procedures which differentiate our products from our competitors. Plating and heat-treating are key ingredients in delivering quality parts, and we have jointly optimized our plating and heat treating procedures due to our knowledge and experience in working with a large quantity of successful customers.

But before it is sent to the customer, it needs to pass a thorough inspection by our quality assurance team. Our parts work the first time, and our reputation and pride are staked to that claim. So if the part has any type of defect, we will NOT ship it until it is corrected.
